Science Writing

I spent the summer of 2013 writing for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel as a AAAS Mass Media Fellow, and also occasionally write about science research and science communication on my blog.

One of the most important things that I took away from the Mass Media Fellowship experience was the importance of keeping the audience in mind when communicating about science, a point that I think is just as relevant in academic science as it is in journalism.

If you’d like to read more, my favorite pieces from both the Journal Sentinel and my blog are listed here, and you can find a full list of my published clips here.

The photo at the top of this page, by the way, is from a story I wrote about leafcutter ants!
